The adult recreational session consist of 40 one
and a half hours classes running from September until June.
Based on flowing, non-stop graceful movement in changing formations with balances, turns and jumps, aesthetic group gymnastics has been around for years both in
Europe, where it began, and in Canada.
In Kanata, hundreds of girls have enjoyed aesthetic group gymnastics, and some have even participated
in World Gymnaestradas in Portugal and Austria. After attending the World Gymnaestradas (the world's largest sports celebration - it literally means "gymnastics in the streets"), Kanata head coach
and founder, Dasa Lelli, noticed that many countries had participants well past the age of 20.
In 2006 three time provincial champion rhythmic gymnast and experienced coach Sharon Fryer began
coaching a women's recreational and competitive team. These classes are composed of women with a variety of different movement backgrounds, from fitness classes to competitive dance and gymnastics, to women looking for a fun and different way to stay in shape.
Registration to join the group at a recreational level requires no experience just a love of movement and a challenge.
