2007 KANATA CUP INVITATIONAL WAS A GREAT SUCCESS

The weekend of February 17-18, 2007 marked the 13th annual Kanata Cup Invitational Rhythmic Gymnastics competition, which was hosted by the Kanata Rhythmic Sportive Gymnastics Club. The event attracted over 120 gymnasts from six clubs in Ontario and for the first time ever included both Provincial and InterClub AGG competitors as well as the Provincial/InterClub Individuals and small groups.

This year's Kanata Cup celebrated the 32nd anniversary of the KRSG Club. Dasa Lelli, who remains the Head Coach, founded the club in 1975.

In the Provincial Individual level, the twelve gymnasts from the Kanata RSG Club all gave very commanding performances, winning thirteen gold, thirteen silver and seven bronze medals, for a total of thirty-three medals.

In Level 2A, Marie won GOLD overall after winning GOLD in Free and GOLD in Rope.
  
In Level 3A, Sarah won SILVER overall after winning GOLD in Free and SILVER in Hoop.
  
In Level 3B, Zoë won SILVER overall after winning SILVER in Free, SILVER in Hoop and GOLD in Ball.
  
In Level 4A, Christine came 5th overall after finishing 8th in Free and 5th in Ball.
  Jenna came in 8th overall after finishing 7th in Free and 7th in Ball.
  
In Level 4B, Myranda won SILVER overall after winning GOLD in Ribbon, BRONZE in Free and finishing 5th in Ball.
  Megan won BRONZE overall after winning GOLD in Free, BRONZE in Ball and finishing 4th in Ribbon.
  Lucinda came 5th overall after winning a SILVER in Ball and finishing 4th in Free and 7th in Ribbon.
  
In Level 5A, Caitlin won GOLD overall after winning GOLD in Free, GOLD in Rope and GOLD in Ribbon.
  Lauren won BRONZE overall after winning BRONZE in Free, BRONZE in Rope and BRONZE in Ribbon.
  
In Level 5B, Brianna won SILVER overall after winning GOLD in Choice Apparatus (Hoop), SILVER in Ball and SILVER in Ribbon.
  
In Level 5C, Breanna won SILVER overall after winning GOLD in Choice Apparatus (Ball), SILVER in Clubs and SILVER in Rope.
  

In the Provincial Group level competition the 3 Duos from the Kanata RSG Club won 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze.
In Novice Duo/Trio level, The Kanata M&Ms Duo won SILVER, in the same level, The Kanata Lucky Charms Duo won BRONZE.
In Senior Duo/Trio level, The Kanata Senior Duo won GOLD in their category.

In the Provincial AGG Pre-Novice level competition, the Kanata Pre-Novice Group, won SILVER.


In the InterClub Individual level, the seven gymnasts from the Kanata RSG Club all who competed for the first time as individuals, won one Gold and one Bronze medal.
 

In Level 2, Kailey won BRONZE overall with her Rope routine.
  Mariana finished in 4th place overall with her Rope routine.
  
In Level 3, Danica won GOLD overall with her Rope routine.
  Julia finished in 4th place overall with her Rope routine.
  Ember finished in 9th place overall with her Rope routine.
  Alexandra finished in 11th overall with her Rope routine.
  Cristina also finished in 11th overall with her Rope routine.
  

In the InterClub Group level competition the level 5 Kanata Duo won GOLD with their Hoop routine.

In InterClub AGG Level 2 the Kanata Energy won SILVER overall with their Free routine.

In InterClub AGG Level 3, the Kanata Spirit won GOLD overall with their Free routine.

At the end of the second day of competition the gymnasts from the Kanata RSG Club won 17 Gold, 16 Silver, 9 Bronze, 4 - 4th Place, 3 - 5th Place, 3 - 7th Place and 2 - 8th Places Ribbons for a total of 42 medals and 12 4th-8th Ribbons.

The team from The Ottawa Rhythmic Gymnastics Club won the Kanata Cup Overall Team Trophy by a slim margin with a total of 180.4 points to Kanata Rhythmic Gymnastics Club's 179.7 points.

The competition was held at Bridlewood Elementary School, located at 63 Bluegrass Drive in Kanata.
