Marie from the Kanata Rhythmic Sportive Gymnastics Club became the 2007 Provincial Champion at the Rhythmic Gymnastics Provincial
Championships, hosted by the Ottawa Rhythmic Gymnastics Club at Ashbury College in Ottawa on June 2-3.
Marie won the gold medal overall and the Provincial Champions Trophy, after winning gold in the free routine and gold in the rope routine in the level 2A category. This is Marie's second year as a Provincial level individual gymnast.
This years Provincial Championships featured some of the best in the sport from clubs across Ontario. Audiences were treated to beautifully choreographed routines which included free and routines using apparatus such as ropes, hoops, clubs, balls and ribbon.
KRSG’s, 9 individual provincial gymnast, 6 RG group gymnast and 6 members of the pre-novice aesthetic group gave outstanding performances. KRSG gymnast returned home with 1 overall Provincial Champion title plus several medals and 4th - 8th place ribbons or their efforts. (9 medals - 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze plus 10 Ribbons - 5 Fourth place, 2 Fifth place, 1 Sixth place, 1 Seventh place and 1 Eighth place).
Our Kanata club's other good results at the Provincial Championships were in the Novice duo category, Myranda and Megan, the Kanata M&Ms Duo won the silver medal overall and fourth place went to Christine and Lucinda, the Kanata Lucky Charms Duo, in the same level.
The senior duo of Breanna and Emily won the bronze medal overall for their performance.
The Kanata Pre-Novice AGG team won the bronze medal overall in their first Provincial Championships.
In individual results, Breanna won the silver medal in rope, 6th in clubs, 4th in ball and 4th overall in 5C category.
Caitlin won a silver medal in the rope and the bronze medal overall, after taking fifth for her free routine and fourth in ribbon in the 5A category.
Megan won fourth place in the ball and 7th overall in 4B category, while Lucinda and Myranda placed 9th and 11th in the province respectively.
In the 4A category Christine and Jenna finished 13th and 17th in the province respectively.
Sarah took 5th place in the hoop and 8th place overall in the 3A category.
