Teams from the Kanata Rhythmic Gymnastics Club participated in the Red Ribbon Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Competition held June 16 in Toronto. A total of 13 gymnasts represented the Kanata RSG Club at this event, which is considered as the highest-level competition in InterClub Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG). The stands were packed throughout the day, as competitors from age 7 to senior performed their competitive routines.
The Kanata Energy won the bronze medal for their free routine, the bronze for their creative routine
and the bronze medal overall in level 2. They were also given a special award for being the most synchronized group in the competition.
In the Level 3 competition, the Kanata Spirit won the silver medal for their free routine, the silver for their creative routine and the silver overall.
Aesthetic Group Gymnastics is a form of Rhythmic Gymnastics, where at the Interclub level teams perform two routines in a competition. The free routine is a choreographed set of movements including swings, leaps, balances and pivots. In the Creative routine imaginations go wild as the teams perform a routine set to a theme with appropriate music and costumes.
With the completion of the 2007 competitive season, the Kanata Rhythmic Gymnastics Club (KRSG) can look back on a very successful year.
Our 13 Provincial individual and RG group gymnast and 6 Provincial AGG gymnasts brought home a total of 98 medals (43 gold, 30 silver and
25 bronze) from competitions in Ontario, as well as one overall Ontario Provincial Champion.
Our 10 InterClub individual and RG group gymnast and 29 AGG gymnasts brought home a total of 29 medals (12 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze) from competitions in Ontario.
The KRSG Club is one of the largest and longest standing rhythmic clubs in Canada, and is a member in good
standing of Gymnastics Ontario. The club is a full-service club, and is proud to have provided high quality rhythmic gymnastics programs to girls in Kanata and the surrounding area.
The Kanata RSG club invites everyone to their Open House on Saturday, June 23 from 12-2pm. Auditions for
the advanced training groups will be held from 3-4pm. The group going to the World Gymnaestrada will be giving a special performance.
